Barber’s practice designed the Ordnance Road project for Enfield. Like all architectural practices its website is completely incomprehensible, but I found information at the builders’. Neilcott Group say the contract value was £3m for 11 three-bedroom houses and four one-bedroom units. That works out at £244k each, with the important detail that Enfield already owned the land under them.
This is new build, but you can see it’s an example to others. Haringey has repented of the HDV and gone for a much simpler scheme to add 1000 net new properties.
Meanwhile, our exciting new minister for housing is yet to release any of that two billion quid.
